Bass guitar commonly has 4, 5, and 6 strings, the more strings gives a shorter range between each string, so it depends on bass player’s habit. The standard tuning of 4 stringed bass is E-A-D-G, the 5 stringed is B-E-A-D-G, and the 6 stringed is B-E-A-D-G-C.
The material of a bass guitar, as another guitars, commonly made by wood and could be another matter like plastic fibre. A bass guitar consist of body, neck, fingerboard, fret, pickups and of course the strings. When you are intended to buy a bass guitar, please observe each thing mentioned above. The type of wood influence the tone, that in physics was explained as resonance. This resonance could be said as medium’s compatibility in conducting the sound’s vibration. Poor resonance causes a bad and a short intonation. Every guitar brand are commonly different in sound, in this case you should adapt yourself to each character. Generally, the popular brands are Fender, Ibanez, and Gibson, each has special character. My bass guitar is Ibanez, it gives a soft sound and has a rather slight neck that comfort my fingers.
Choosing an amplifier for bass guitar need to be well considered. The differences between bass guitar and electric guitar are on its frequencies and amplitudes. Bass guitar has lower frequencies and higher amplitudes, electric guitar is the opposite. Therefore, the amplifier for bass guitar must have a bigger electric capacity as compared to electric guitar’s.
Opting a bass guitar depends on desire, in addition it’s like choosing a friend. So that you have to understand your own taste, whether or not it suits your fancy.
